2026 STARS Research and Education Conference

On September 12, 2026, STARS (Stuttering Treatment and Research Society) brought together physicians, clinicians, researchers, and individuals who stutter from across the globe. Attendees traveled from Europe, Asia, North America, South America, and Australia for the Second Annual Research and Education Conference to share the latest advancements in stuttering research and treatment. Attendees earned continuing medical education (CME) credits while exploring the latest advancements in stuttering research and treatment. The conversations highlighted what’s possible when science, compassion, and lived experience come together.

Guidelines Announcement
STARS formally announced the first “International Interdisciplinary Consensus Guidelines on Stuttering,” a significant step forward for standardizing evidence-based care for individuals who stutter.

Centers of Excellence Coming to Saint Louis University
STARS announced that their first Centers of Excellence will launch at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in early 2027. The new center will provide interdisciplinary care involving multiple specialties of medicine, expanding access to specialized research and clinical resources for individuals who stutter. The center will also provide specialized education and training programs in stuttering for physicians and other healthcare professionals

CME Training Program
The education conference was jointly sponsored by St. Louis University School of Medicine and allowed physicians to obtain Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits specifically in stuttering neuroscience and clinical care. STARS is proud to be the first organization to provide dedicated education and training programs for physicians such that they can provide knowledgeable and informed healthcare to our global stuttering community.
