2026 STARS Interdisciplinary Clinical Advisory Meeting
Inside the STARS Interdisciplinary Clinical Advisory Meeting: Stuttering Treatment Community
From February 25 to March 1, STARS hosted its inaugural Interdisciplinary Clinical Advisory Meeting in Portugal, bringing together physicians, speech-language pathologists, researchers, professors, communications partners, and people who stutter for several days of collaboration, discussion, and shared purpose. Held at Pine Cliffs Resort in Albufeira, the meeting focused on developing evidence-based guidelines to advance the diagnosis and treatment of stuttering. Through breakout sessions and interdisciplinary dialogue, attendees explored best practices, identified gaps in the field, and outlined actionable recommendations to help shape the future of stuttering care.
The gathering created space for thoughtful discussion, meaningful collaboration, and genuine connection among attendees. Conversations throughout the gathering highlighted the importance of collaboration across disciplines and the opportunity to create more informed, compassionate approaches to care.
As STARS’ inaugural Interdisciplinary Clinical Advisory Meeting, the gathering marked an important first step in developing evidence-based guidelines to advance the diagnosis and treatment of stuttering. The discussions and recommendations shared throughout the meeting helped establish a strong foundation for the work ahead.
