Second Bi-Annual Stuttering Research and Education Conference
2026 Semi-Annual Meeting & Education Conference
In April, STARS hosted its 2026 Semi-Annual Meeting & Education Conference at St. Louis University School of Medicine in Missouri, co-sponsored by Saint Louis University School of Medicine. The conference brought together psychiatrists, neurologists, speech-language pathologists, researchers, and persons who stutter for a day of interdisciplinary lectures and discussion, with free CME credits available to medical professionals. A key focus of the weekend was progress on STARS’ upcoming evidence-based clinical guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of stuttering.
The gathering kicked off with a full-day Board and Advisors Meeting held at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, where members convened to advance STARS’ priorities and review progress on the evidence-based clinical guidelines. The Education Conference brought a broader audience together for a full day of presentations and dialogue centered on improving care for people who stutter. Evening events provided additional space for connection and community-building among attendees.
Throughout the weekend, interdisciplinary conversation remained at the heart of the gathering — reflecting STARS’ commitment to bringing together diverse perspectives to advance more informed, compassionate approaches to stuttering care. The meetings reinforced the importance of collaboration across medicine, research, and lived experience as STARS continues to build toward the release of its evidence-based clinical guidelines.
