En la reuni\u00f3n de la Cumbre del SNCC celebrada esta semana en Boston, se publicaron los resultados del estudio Orpheus en una presentaci\u00f3n en p\u00f3ster con el fundador de STARS, Gerald<\/span> A. Maguire MD, como autor principal. El estudio, patrocinado por Noema Pharma (noemapharma.com), investig\u00f3 el gemlapodect en el tratamiento de adultos con Trastorno del Desarrollo de la Fluidez de Inicio Infantil (Tartamudez). El gemlapodect es un medicamento en investigaci\u00f3n que act\u00faa como un inhibidor de PDE 10A, el cual puede modular la hiperactividad de la se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n de dopamina en las regiones estriatales del cerebro que se postula subyacen a la tartamudez. El estudio involucr\u00f3 un dise\u00f1o novedoso de aleatorizaci\u00f3n con respuesta al placebo y utiliz\u00f3 una escala de calificaci\u00f3n reci\u00e9n desarrollada (la MLGSSS) para evaluar la gravedad de la tartamudez. Al eliminar a los sujetos que mostraron una respuesta inicial al placebo, el gemlapodect mostr\u00f3 un efecto de tratamiento significativo en comparaci\u00f3n con el placebo. El gemlapodect fue generalmente bien tolerado, con efectos secundarios (reportados como leves a moderados) de sedaci\u00f3n, acatisia (inquietud) y diston\u00eda (rigidez muscular) mayores que con el placebo. A diferencia de los medicamentos bloqueadores de dopamina previamente estudiados en la tartamudez, no se observ\u00f3 aumento de peso.<\/p>\n
